Finding a job is not always easy in Australia. Our 'English for Work' program will help you understand Australian workplace requirements and will assist you in finding a job.

Our English for Work program will
help you:

  • Enhance your job application skills and boost your knowledge about useful Australian job search engines.

The English for Work program consists of a series of afternoon workshops - easy to fit in amongst your other study commitments.

Workshop #1

Australian Workplace Communication and Culture:

This workshop is recommended as an initial step as it helps you understand Australian workplace etiquette. The work culture in Australia may be different from what you have experienced in your country. Understanding the Australian workplace culture will help you improve your work relationships and avoid cultural misunderstandings.

This workshop will help you:

  • Understand work structure and protocols in the Australian workplace
  • Learn general trends within the Australian workplace culture
  • Compare the Australian workplace culture to that of your home country

Workshop #2

Interview Skills:

This workshop will help you develop your interview skills as required to impress employers. During this workshop we will take you through job interview stages, expectations and challenges.

This workshop will help you:

  • Learn the different types of job interviews
  • Prepare for a job interview
  • Provide answers during an interview which are sure to impress employers
  • Build your confidence

Workshop #3

Cover Letters and Resumes:

This workshop will teach you how to write an effective cover letter and a resume, which not only meets Australian employment standards, but will also get results. Additionally, you will learn valuable skills to search and find employment in Australia.

This workshop will help you:

  • Write effective cover letters for a wide variety of jobs
  • Create a resume that captures your education and work experience and looks impressive to potential employers

Workshop #4

Job Search:

It is recommended you attend this workshop after successful completion of the Cover Letters and Resumes Workshop.
This workshop focuses on job searching. We will introduce you to a variety of Australian job search websites and you will learn how to find jobs relevant to your experience. We will also guide you through the job application process.

This workshop will help you:

  • Search and select suitable jobs
  • Apply for jobs

Workshop #5

Australian Hospitality:

This workshop is designed for students who are seeking “hands-on” practical experience in hospitality. We will help you develop industry experience and show you how to deliver the highest standards of guest service and presentation.

This workshop will help you:

  • Gain the presentation skills necessary for jobs in hospitality
  • Learn about function events and table settings
  • Wait on and serve tables
  • Learn effective customer service skills and how to manage complaints
  • Improve vocabulary related to working in hospitality and how to engage in “table talk”
  • Know the key points in being a great waitperson
