ELSIS moves to remote delivery.

Our courses will be moving to remote delivery from Monday 23rd March.

We aim to deliver a high quality educational experience through interactive online classes. ELSIS will use Zoom as the main platform for online delivery. You will be able to interact with your teacher and classmates, ask questions, engage in discussions and participate in pair and good activities.

Zoom lessons include collaborative features such as whiteboard, discussion board, polling and breakout rooms. It is very easy to use, enjoyable and engaging.

Why do we have to study remotely?

Your safety and health are our top priority. As the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 has increased in Australia, all ELSIS classes will be delivered remotely, which means you attend classes from home. Our aim to minimize the risk of our students and staff catching the virus, yet ensuring you receive a quality education.

What will be the classes available during the remote delivery?

Morning classes: From 9:30 to 1:45.Courses and levels available in the morning: General English:  Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-intermediate, Cambridge: FCE and PET, IELTS.

Evening classes: From 5:10 to 9:30. Courses and levels available in the evening: General English: Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-intermediate. Cambridge: FCE.

When can we resume our classes on campus?

Classes on campus will resume once the Australian Government advises that it is safe to have social gatherings. We will email all students once the decision is made.

Does attending classes remotely affect my visa requirements?

No, the change from face-to-face to online delivery will not impact your compliance with your visa conditions.

Will my class attendance be monitored?

Yes, your class teacher will monitor your attendance and progress as usual.

Will there be any changes to my current class schedule?

ELSIS will contact you if there are any changes to your current timetable.

 Students who booked evening timetable cannot take morning classes as they are still working during the day. Which classes can we keep open for the evening timetable?

We have created evening classes for pre-intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-intermediate students who we affected by the timetable change.

Can I still apply for a timetable change?

Yes, if your work arrangements change, you can request a timetable change by emailing our student services.

How do I access remote classes?

ELSIS will use Zoom for Education and Edmodo as our platforms for remote delivery. Your teacher will send you an email with a link to a Zoom classroom, so you can join your lessons from home on your laptop or phone. You teacher will also send you a class code to join Edmodo.

We aim to deliver similar lesson content and enable you to participate in discussions as you have been - just using an online platform.

What equipment do I need to access remote classes?

You need a computer or your smart phone, a microphone and good internet connection.

What can I do if I do not have access to the internet at home?

Contact your mobile phone provider and check whether they are offering free data allowance upgrades for those affected by COVID-19.

If you are with Optus, Telstra or Vodafone, you can apply for free extra data

Who do I contact if I am having trouble accessing my zoom lesson3

Contact your teacher first. If you cannot reach your teacher, then contact our student services.

Are Zoom lessons interactive?

Yes, Zoom classes resemble your face-to-face lessons but are online. You have access to your teacher and classmates, you can ask questions and work together in pairs and groups.

Will I still study the same course content?

Yes, your classes will be the same but online.

Who do I contact if I want to discuss my progress?

To discuss your progress, email student services to arrange a Zoom meeting with the Director of Studies.

How can I request a course change?

Contact student services via email or phone and make sure you have updated your personal information on RTOM.

Will there be any activities available for students?

Yes, there will be online engaging activities for students.

If I am sick, do I need to provide doctor certificates?

You don’t need to provide a doctor certificate, but you need to inform your teacher and student services.

How do I access welfare services?

To access online welfare services download the Converge International APP ‘EAP Connect’ through the Apple or Google play store to your phone/laptop. You can access booking services by calling 1300687327 or visiting the following website: https://www.convergeinternational.com.au

Can I continue my course if I go back home?

Yes, you can continue your course online, however, we do not advise students to travel during this stage.

If I change my course how do I get a new book?

If you change your course you will have access to the lesson online through Zoom. Your teacher will send you lesson recordings so you have access to all classes, and can revise at your own time.

Will we have a graduation ceremony each Friday?

No, we will not have Friday graduation ceremonies, but we will send you your certificate via email. If you want a hard copy of your certificate, you can collect it when we resume classes on campus. If you had already left the country by then, we will send your certificate by mail to the home country address you had provided on RTOM.

What happens if I cannot pay my fees?

If you are facing hardships and you are finding it difficult to pay your fees, we can help you. Please contact student services.

Can I defer my course?

If you wish to differ your course contact student services and they will let you know if you are eligible for a course deferral.

I have just arrived in Australia, how do I enrol in my course?

Before arrival in Australia, we sent you an email on how to enrol, please check your email.

On Monday orientation day, our student services will be in contact with you to take you through the enrolment process.

Orientation will take place via zoom so please make sure you have a computer/laptop and access to the internet.

What if I cannot arrive in Australia on time for my course?

You can commence your course from overseas until travel restrictions are lifted.
