Many students come to Sydney to learn English and work. This usually means cleaning or working in Hospitality. Cleaning is a good job to start with, but after some time you may want to find a job where you can practice your English. A Hospitality job is perfect for this. You will improve your speaking and listening skills very quickly when you are in a customer service environment. If you have no experience working in a restaurant or bar, or just need to learn some English to use in your job, come and do the Hospitality course. The workshop is held over two days.
Hospitality Session One
Students are shown the best ways to start looking for a job, and we discuss what clothes are appropriate to wear when looking for work. We also discuss which suburbs in Sydney are good places to start, as well as what times in the day are appropriate to approach businesses. The rest of the day is focused on customer service and what to do and say if you have complaints or difficult situations.
Hospitality Session Two
The two things restaurant managers are looking for is the ability to hold three plates and carry a tray. Hospitality Session Two focuses on the more practical side of Hospitality. Students learn what phrases to use in the restaurant, some restaurant vocabulary, how to hold three plates, set tables and carry a tray. We finish off the course with a quick conversation about wine and how to serve it.
You will receive a certificate when you complete the two days to show any prospective employer.
This course will focus on:
- How and where to find employment
