ENGLISH FOR NURSING (EFN)

English for Nursing is a 12 week course designed for international students who are already nurses in their country of origin.

Students will be able to begin at ELSIS in our General Intensive English Program and then progress to English for Nursing for twelve weeks and then enter our IELTS Preparation Course where they will prepare for the IELTS test.

Pre-requisite

To enter this course students should have the following minimum English language levels and be registered or enrolled nurses in their country of origin:

IELTS result of 5.5 or
Successful completion of ELSIS General Intensive English Upper Intermediate level or
Satisfactory result in an ELICOS placement test

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students who undertake the full 12 weeks of the course will have:

  • Proficiency in their work
  • A greater awareness and understanding of grammatical, written and spoken forms, and a higher level of confidence when utilizing those forms
  • Wider range of vocabulary
  • A better understanding of the culture of nursing in Australia
  • Specialist knowledge and the vocabulary to be able to communicate with fellow nurses, doctors, patients and the myriad of others whom they may come in contact with in a hospital environment

Even though it is a twelve week course students may enter at any Monday.

At present the course will only be run in our evening session.
